2019

How can parents help their children grow up mentally healthy? How can we support their cognitive and psychological development and nurture the growth of their personality and abilities? The ten films start right there — with everyday life and the questions many parents have. Mental wellbeing is one of the cornerstones of healthy child development.

Commissioned by the Deutsche Liga für das Kind and in coordination with further partners — including the Berufsverband der Kinder- und Jugendärzte (BVKJ), the Verband der Ersatzkassen (vdek), the Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung (BZgA) and the Nationales Zentrum Frühe Hilfen (NZFH) — the films were produced. Shown as part of the U1–U9 check-ups, they explain what needs children have at each age and how their emotional development can be supported.

The films were created to complement information leaflets on the topic "Growing Up Mentally Healthy", distributed nationwide by paediatricians to parents as part of the U1–U9 check-ups from spring 2019 onwards.
